[Regression analysis of recovery from idiopathic sudden hearing loss].

چکیده
Probability of recovery from idiopathic sudden hearing loss depends on many factors. The "recovery rate" as an indicator of recovery from s udden hearing loss was proposed. Using the recovery rate, data from 183 cases of idiopathic sudden hearing loss by means of multiple regression analysis was examined. 1) The recovery rate as a percentage of the hearing recovery to the difference of the initial hearing level in both ears was defined. 2) The recovery rate was impaired by advanced age, late visit after onset, presence of vertigo, severer hearing loss, and audiogram type of high-frequency hearing loss. 3) The value of the partial regression coefficient was largest in the factor of "presense of vertigo". However, it was thought that the effect of vertigo is not too large, because of its high correlation with the severity of the initial hearing loss. 4) The recovery rate might be predicted at about 26% with the patient's age, time to the initial visit, the severity of the initial hearing loss, and the difference between low-and high-frequency hearing level by multiple regression analysis.

Sudden Bilateral Sensorineural Hearing Loss Secondary to Cerebral Venous Thrombosis
Introduction: Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL) is an important otological emergency. Up to 90% of the cases are idiopathic. Cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) is an extremely rare identifiable cause as it only represents 0.5% of all strokes. Case Report: In this paper, an unusual case of bilateral SSNHL secondary to bilateral CVT with rapid and complete recovery is reported. The patie...

متن کاملA Retrospective Study of the Clinical Characteristics and Post-treatment Hearing Outcome in Idiopathic Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss
The purpose of this retrospective study was to analyze the clinical characteristics and document hearing recovery in patients with idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL). 122 patients diagnosed with unilateral ISSNHL, from March 2009 to December 2014, were treated with oral steroids and pentoxifylline. Hearing change was evaluated by comparing pre-treatment and post-treatment pur...
